During the last three decades and with the accelerated development of the mining and basic metals industries, the number and capacity of sintering and calcination units of lime and dolomite have increased significantly, and taking into account the ongoing projects and plans to increase the production capacity in the industries Basic metals and metallurgy, chemicals, sanitary, water treatment , food, gas desulfurization and environmental applications, construction industry, road and agricultural products in Iran and the West Asia region, this procedure continues.

Because before the arrival of lime industrial complexes in this region, there was traditional production and until now, no serious attention has been paid to the technical and technological infrastructure of this industry, and the calcination factories are more experimental, traditional or based on the knowledge available in similar industries (such as cement production) have been built and put into operation or renovated and implemented in other countries using technology a few decades ago.

And until now, for various reasons, organizations based on modern knowledge and experts in this field have not been established, and a large number of existing factories are based on previous plans and without considering requirements such as technology compatibility with existing ore specifications. The optimality of energy and water consumption, the characteristics and type of the final product and its compatibility with the market needs, production costs have been established and this process has caused problems or even stopped production in some of these factories
